The Sealand Campus is nestled somewhere in the folds of Table Mountain, a short drive from Hout Bay Beach. Here, functional design meets bold action, and a team of wave riders, hikers, and adventure seekers create gear that balances style, durability, and sustainability.
Every bag and apparel item is handmade from waste or ethically-sourced materials. These are paired with high-quality hardware, conscious design, and expert craftsmanship to create products built to last a lifetime. Sturdy, weather-resistant and versatile, Sealand Gear’s pieces are made for land, sea, and everything in between.
From saving over 105 tonnes of toxic material from landfill to supporting environmental and social initiatives, Sealand’s mission remains simple: put the planet and its people first, one product at a time.
Sealand is deeply committed to upcycling and reducing environmental impact. When a key recycling partner shifted away from accepting their types of textile offcuts, they collaborated with local organisations (like Injongo Educare Centre, Wastecrete, and Steenberg High School) to repurpose these materials into new products and art.
Inside their offices, the same values apply. Partnering with Plant The Seed, Sealand has implemented comprehensive recycling systems, successfully diverting nearly 90% of office waste (over 540kg) in 2023 alone.
The Sealand Gear Team
From a surf trip dream to a certified B Corp, Sealand’s journey is proof that innovation, creativity, and responsibility can redefine the gear and apparel industry. Each bag, jacket, or accessory carries a story (one of craftsmanship, environmental care, and community empowerment) designed to last a lifetime while protecting the places we love and the planet we call home.
